It was nice when the 'Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue service' come to us at ‘South West Camper Conversions’ to build them an education vehicle. I was very happy to help with what I thought would be a straight forward build! The white T5 panel van supplied had been used heavily as a builders van for 4 years and needed lots of TLC before having the body work repaired, customised and re-painted in fire Engine Red with a chameleon metal flake lacquer. ![]() ![]()
The van has been lowered by our custom 60mm springs (we didn't want to lower it further due to the weight of the 1380Amps of batteries needed to run the sound system!) fitted with BMW 18” alloys, under body red neon’s and one off tail and head lights incorporating blue emergency strobe lights. ![]() ![]() A standard car audio system quickly grew into the huge custom one off sound system you see in the back with twin 18" subs, encased in a one off mirror polished stainless steel box detailed with the red electric luminescent wire (best appreciated at night). This is equivalent to an in car audio system of 10,000 watts!! A 37” LCD TV and Wii games console was then fitted above the system.
The main area inside the van had a custom two tone red and black leather bench seat fitted with matching re-trimmed front seats, Caravelle foot steps with custom inserted lights and a flip down DVD player. The red and black theme has been carried throughout the interior with all the grey plastic being repainted in black and the dash being detailed in red. ![]() ![]() The project turned out to be a huge undertaking with immensely complicated electrics and was intensely time consuming with all the one off customising and detailing that has gone into it (with out going into all the sound deadening we had to put in for the huge sound system fitted!). ![]() ![]() However we are proud of the finished product and hope what we have done is appreciated and achieves everything and more that is hoped and expected from it? ![]()
