This van is based on the Teahupoo conversion with a lot of customisation.

The van was built to be a show piece for the company, to try and win shows and get magazine features (it’s won every show it has been entered into and has had a big feature in the biggest UK VW magazine as well as being featured in magazines and books across Europe).

We have done a lot of show vans over the years but (if you have ever been to any shows) they always seem to follow the format of body kits, shiny bits, lowered on big alloys. Although there are lots of lovely vans out there like this, we have always found them difficult to live with on a day to day basis. We have always preferred the more wild campsites and have often got stuck with the wide low profile tyres wheel spinning on wet grass or the body kit hitting the floor when on uneven ground.

This brief was to tick all boxes (or as many as feasibly possible) for a show, practical and luxurious MPV/campervan

• Be as practical as possible with car like handling and 5 traveling seats, easy to park without the fear of getting too close to curbs
• Be as comfortable as possible with car like features (steering wheel controls, rain sensors etc)
• Be as luxurious as possible with a full leather trim and a nice stereo
• Be practical campervan for up to 5 adults (or up to 6 with the child bunk)
• Be a luxurious campervan with lots additional features like sat TV DVD, wind out awning (taken apart and re anodised black) with the option for a drive away awning
• Go anywhere camper with 4x4, high ground clearance, usable winch for the option of wild camping with the addition of a large solar panel (able to charge either the van or leisure batteries), all internal electrics running from 12v and a diesel heater and one off VW bike rack (taken apart and re anodised black)

This project got out of hand with the attention to detail with the two tone theme going all the way with replacing dash plastics for German Caravelle spec, leather with detail stitch door cards, dash panels, a & b pillars and even the headlining. The roof was sprayed outside and in with the headlining replaced and canvas also getting the two tone touch.

You often see in ads 'too much spec to list' but this van it really is, heated front seats, air con, cruise control, trip computer, appearance pack, heated folding mirrors, reversing sensors and so on without even getting to the camper conversion work. We worked out to do this vehicle through the workshop would be in excess of £65,000. The material costs alone come to sale cost as the emply 4X4 van of this spec is over £34,000.

We are after close to £50,000 for the van as it has only covered about 4,500 miles from new, and really is as immaculate as pictured. The vehicle is a personal taste with its orange and black two tone, but the outside orange checker plate is held on with self-adhesive tape and so could easily be removed if wanting a more discreet external appearance!

This van came about when we did a Toffee Brown van for a customer who had brown the duck egg blue leather. Although the van done was lovely we all looked at it and said we’d all of done it with Brown and Cream leather with the Maple and Walnut furniture board to match. Once the seed was sown it was something we all wanted to see done which is why we factory ordered this van.
